Robin Brand, President

Robin Brand is president of RMB Strategies. For nearly 25 years, Robin has worked all over the United States, making big changes happen to move our country forward.

Robin started her career in politics in the early 1980s as a canvasser for the Citizens Action Coalition. She has always said you either love or hate canvassing—and she immediately loved it. Robin still feels that passion and is driven by an authentic interest in people and ideas, which has led her to work on a variety of groundbreaking issues and successful candidate campaigns.

Robin has held leadership positions within the LGBT movement and the Democratic Party. At the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund and the associated Victory Institute, Robin served as Deputy Executive Director and Senior Vice President of Campaigns. She played a key role in electing the first LGBT elected officials in many states and in increasing LGBT representation in the U.S. Congress. As the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Gill Action Fund, Robin developed electoral and advocacy strategies that succeeded in passing same-sex marriage and relationship recognition laws in Wisconsin, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Prior to her work in LGBT politics, Robin was the eastern Political Director and Director of State Party Development for the Democratic National Committee (DNC). She worked directly with state party organizations to develop coordinated campaign plans and provide assessments and advice on increasing state party fundraising programs. Earlier, she worked in Washington State as the Executive Director of the State Democratic Party, the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee, and Washington’s 1998 Coordinated Campaign—that year’s most successful coordinated campaign in the country.

A frequent speaker and media guest, Robin has provided political commentary on MSNBC and CNN. She has also been featured in The Advocate, and quoted in articles in The Washington Post, The Seattle Times, The Windy City Times, and the Seattle Gay News.
